After the end of the EURO 2024 group stage, the Spanish site Mundo Deportivo created a squad of the best players. Among them, there are 3 players from Spain and 2 from Georgia.
16 teams have qualified for the next round of the tournament, including Georgia, who surprisingly defeated Portugal 2-0 earlier this morning (June 27).
As EURO 2024 approaches the knockout round, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has announced the squad of players who performed best in the group stage. Notably, this squad has up to 3 Spanish players including defender Marc Cucurella, midfielder Fabian Ruiz and striker Lamine Yamal.
Cucurella and Ruiz shone in Spain's opening two matches before being rested for La Roja's final group match against Albania. The Chelsea defender helped Spain keep two clean sheets while the PSG midfielder scored a stunning goal in a 3-0 win over Croatia.
As for Yamal, he had a great assist in Spain's EURO opening match against Croatia. In the following matches, this player also played impressively.
Georgia is the team with the second most representatives with 2 people represented. First up was goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who made a series of incredible saves against Portugal. The second person is striker Georges Mikautadze, who is leading the scoring list at EURO 2024 with 3 goals.
Other teams all have only 1 representative including defenders Riccardo Calafiori (Italy) and Radu Dragusin (Romania); midfielders Stanislav Lobotka (Slovakia), N'Golo Kante (France), Jamal Musiala (Germany) and Marcel Sabitzer (Austria).
Due to disappointing performance, both England and Belgium did not have any representatives in the typical squad of the group stage. Quite surprisingly, Portugal did not have any players present even though they won tickets after only 2 matches.
