Cristiano Ronaldo did not make a mistake for the second time on the penalty spot against goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
In the final minute of the first extra time, Portugal were awarded a penalty after Diogo Jota's breakthrough effort. On the spot, Oblak dived in the right direction to block Ronaldo's curling shot to the right corner.
CR7 burst into tears after this missed shot, but his teammates immediately came to calm him down and help him overcome the difficult period.
Then, in the second time facing Jan Oblak on the 11m mark in the penalty shootout, Ronaldo did not repeat the previous mistake with a dangerous shot to the left corner of the goal. Oblak guessed the right direction but could not block it.
CR7 decided not to celebrate afterwards, but instead clasped his hands towards the Portuguese fans in the stands as a gesture of apology, because he had contributed to forcing his team into an unlucky penalty shootout.
